Myopia clinic
Myopia is a refractive error wherein the child mainly has poor vision for distance. Of late, the incidence of myopia is on the rise worldwide due to the lifestyle the children are leading. Excessive use of gadgets and near work can increase the progression of myopia and may lead to other complications of high myopia. Uncorrected refractive errors can cause lazy eye and lead to squint in some cases.
Proper periodic assessment of eyeball function is essential in the treatment of myopia. Use of glasses with changes in lifestyle is a must in controlling progression. In a few cases where the progression is severe, use of drops such as low dose atropine may be mandated. Certain special type of glasses may also be required in children to control myopia progression.
